Peace of Mind!

You know you have to submit your income and expenses to the IRS at year-end. But wouldn't it be nice to have that information every month, every quarter throughout the year?  Bookkeeping does that for you.

It provides the information to guide business and answer the big questions.

•  Can we afford a new piece of equipment?
• Did the latest marketing campaign pay off? 
• How are profits looking compared to last year?
• What is the estimated tax bill at year end?

Absolutely not; all businesses need an organized system to track income, expense and profit.

But bookkeeping is not one size fits all.  A new, or very small business could successfully capture a year's worth of transactions in a simple spreadsheet.  A larger or more established operation may prefer to do that capturing within an accounting platform.  

Additionally, there are those who want to stay connected to the books by doing it themselves.  Others prefer to free up that headspace and hire a bookkeeper.

Any/all of the above works.

Experience 

I have worked in accounting for over 25 years; from an athletic department with a $100M budget to fledgling businesses accepting their first cash payments for services.  I've solved a lot of problems and organized a lot of financials.

Approachability

My style is no judgement and no jargon served on a base of kindness and patience.  I love answering questions, even the ones I hear over and over.

Passion

As an entrepreneur myself I love talking with others about business.  We've likely faced some of the same struggles.  I believe I've figured out some of the financial ones and want to help others do the same. 

If you read the answer above about being too small for bookkeeping then you know the general answer to this question is "no".  

But if you want to work engage a bookkeeper then typically the answer is "yes". 

I work primarily in Quickbooks Online, so that is where I can offer the most efficient service.  If you already have a QBO file, we can work together in that file.  If you haven't yet launched QBO, I can help you understand the different plans and find the one that is the best fit.

I will need an invite into your accounting software (it's easy, I have instructions) as well as view-only access to  banks, credit cards and any merchant platforms like PayPal or Stripe.

I know that seems scary like you will suddenly be financially naked in front of a <I hope not entirely!> perfect stranger.  I get it. But please remember I'm  not here to judge. We are on the same team, and I want the team to be successful.

On a monthly basis my team and I will:

• Categorize revenues and expenses,
• Reconcile all accounts to bank, credit card and merchant account statements,
• Provide monthly Income Statements and Balance Sheets by the 15th or 30th of each month.

Beyond that it depends on what you need, but here is a sample of services we provide others:

• Manage bills and pay vendors in a timely manner,
• Invoice clients, record payments and track past due accounts,
• Organize supporting documents in shared folders on Google Drive, 
• Submit (salaried) payroll via Gusto and monitor agency tax payments.

Cost will obviously vary depending on which services you engage, but our average is $800/month.
